During a courtesy call to the University's Chair of Council Prof. Julia Ojiambo by a delegation from Guangzhou Create-View Data Information Company, it was revealed that the University of Nairobi is going to be a hub for smart classroom, creative teaching and learning in Africa.

In the MoU signed between the University’s Open Distance and eLearning (ODEL) Campus and Create-View of China, a Digital Centre of education will be established that will help enhance delivery and access to quality education.

In a presentation by the Deputy Director, ODEL Campus, Prof. Harriet Kidombo highlighted the areas of collaboration such as rapid change in learning technology, strengthening of human capital and capacity to develop multimedia content video for online learning, inadequate capacity in innovative ICT teaching and learning and general smart technology.

The team from Create-View led by their Chairman presented on the strengths of their technology and smart classroom solutions where a lecturer uses video conferencing, machine learning and Artificial Intelligence among other smart solutions to deliver the lecture.

Faculty training on the technological solutions, capacity building and innovative ways of teaching and learning are ways in which the University will benefit from thepartnership.

“We are perfect partners in this venture and I have heard most of the challenges highlighted from our end to achieve our strategies and goals are answered though this partnership with Create-View” remarked Prof. Ogeng’o

On his part, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi welcomed the collaboration citing that it is a step towards achieving our strategies as the University and a catalyst to the development of our nation Kenya.

The Chair of Council, Prof. Julia Ojiambo assured the partners that they have the Council’s support in this venture.

The delegation from Create-View reiterated on their commitment to see the success of this partnership and their joy of participating in the Nairobi Innovation Week 2019.

Director, Advancement, Mr. Brian Ouma and Director, Corporate Affairs, Mr. John Orindi also spoke and hailed the partnership.
